Stained glass window is a type of windows that is made from colored glass
arranged to produce a pictorial image or an abstract design. This type of
window can be transformed to double glazing type of window which will make the
decorative stained glass encapsulated between the two sheets of glass. This
will help not only in protecting your stained glass but also in improving
insulation of heat and sound in your home. Here is how to turn your stained
glass window into double glazing:
- Purchase two single-pane vented windows with at least 4 mm of thickness.
- Apply silicone or caulking into where the window will be installed. Apply also two beads of caulking along the outside sill.
- Place the bottom of window into its proper place and slid the top carefully into the frame.
- Drill a two-inch screw into each side to let the window be fixed in its position.
- Apply again silicone or caulking around the whole window. And repeat the process to install a new window on the other side, the inside of the stained glass.
